Frequently Asked Questions

How much cycling experience do I need?

We have route sheets for all abilities. You'll be able to choose from gentle quite country lanes to exiting technical off road trails. Each route sheet will indicate the distance and type of terrain you will encounter, and will have short cut options clearly marked. We will advice you about the level of experience required for your chosen route before you set off to make sure you choose the best route for your ability.

How fit do I have to be?

A basic level of fitness is required for our easier routes. We also include short cut options in all our route sheets, along with recommended refreshment stops, so you don’t have to worry if the going gets too tough. And of course, the great thing about cycling is that you can pedal at your own pace!

What if I get a puncture?

All Cycle Adventure cycles have puncture resistant inner-tubes that will almost always automatically self seal if punctured. If your tyre does go flat, then all you’ll need to do is follow a simple procedure of pumping up the tyre and spinning the wheel to get you back on the road. This will be fully explained when you collect your cycles.

What if my cycle has a mechanical problem?

All Cycle Adventure cycles are maintained to a very high standard with regular servicing and a thorough safety and performance check before each hire. In the unlikely event that a mechanical problem occurs a Cycle Adventure member of staff will be contactable by telephone to solve any issues you may have; or if necessary vehicle support will be on hand. Either way you will be back on your way in no time at all!

What if I get lost?

All Cycle Adventure route sheets are easy to follow containing very clear and detailed instructions. In the unlikely event that you do get lost, don’t panic, just call us and we’ll guide you back on course or if necessary come out and find you!

What if we don’t make it back on time?

If at any stage of your cycle ride you don’t think you’ll arrive back to your agreed finish point at the agreed time you must try and let us know as soon as possible. We do have a late return fee of £5 per bike up to the first hour after which additional standard half day and full rates will be applied for each cycle.
